From 1984 until 1989, I was an official of the Council of Europe, Strasbourg, France, an inter-governmental organisation promoting European cooperation. I was posted as a Tutor at the Council's European Youth Centre, a residential political and social education organisation for leaders of international non-governmental youth organisations.

From 1990 until 1998, I was a member of the staff of the Parliamentary Group of the Party of European Socialists (PES). During my eight years working there, I worked both in the parliamentary group staff - as a political advisor - and in the secretariat of the European party organisation.

Since 1998, I have been a permamnent official of the European Parliament, working firstly as an advisor to the Deputy Secretary General - on Information Technologies, Communications and Editorial Strategy - and then as head of the service "Information Resources Management" - responsible for developing policies and guidelines in the field of data standards and information architecture for the Parliament.
